The MOST IMPORTANT Thing Your Diet is Missing!
I’ve found the MAGIC ingredient…and it may not be what you expect!
Think you know what to eat to achieve your goals? I won’t argue with you that you most likely do at least have a good idea of what a healthy diet looks like. But if that was all it took, then why don’t more people reach their goal and maintain it?
The most common response I get when talking to folks about nutrition, regardless of their goal, is “I know what to do, I just need to DO IT!” Or, “I’m really good for a while, but then something comes up, and I fall off the wagon.” Many times when people feel dissatisfied with their progress, they go searching for the next latest greatest diet or exercise program.
Do you tell yourself that you just need to harness more willpower? Do you beat yourself up when you “slip?” I’m here to tell you that the problem is NOT in your lack of motivation, or willpower. And the answer doesn’t lie in any certain combination of specific foods or crazy workout regimes. I know, how UNSEXY is that?! I get it, it’s human nature to seek out a quick fix. We have become so accustomed to instant gratification. Although, I think you may find comfort in realizing that it’s really not necessary to go to extremes with diet or exercise to achieve whatever goals you have. The MOST IMPORTANT and helpful thing you can do for yourself is to become ACCOUNTABLE to someone!
We all need accountability in our lives. We simply cannot rely on intrinsic motivation forever. We need to know that someone is watching out for us, counting on us, supporting us when we feel like the extra effort is just not worth it or there are too many other things vying for our attention. Our most successful clients are the ones who do unlimited small group training. Having an appointment to workout offers the accountability that if you don’t show up, you are not only letting yourself down, but your trainer too. And this is why our nutrition programs are called Accountables. It may be less about me telling you what to eat, and more about me holding you responsible for making the right choices. The cool part about it is that many people find that it’s the little things that add up over time, if practiced consistently. Again, I realize that sounds much less exciting than some sexy new diet, but it’s the truth!
Speaking of Accountables, if you feel like you’re working hard in the gym, but just not quite satisfied with your results, realize that nutrition is 80% of the game.
